Supreme Court dismisses Dafeamekpor’s application against approval of new ministers

Ghana’s Supreme Court has thrown away a suit by Member of Parliament for South Dayi seeking an injunction on the approval of minister designates.

The case was presided over by Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo.

The Court says the injunction application is frivolous and an abuse of court process.

The Supreme Court’s decision was unanimous.

Reports indicates that the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) Member of Parliament and his lawyers failed to attend the court proceeding.

Also, it was disclosed in court that Rockson Defeamakpor had instructed his lawyers not to accept any court documents on the hearing notice of his case.

Dafeamekpor’s case was abou the legality of the President’s recent nomination of ministers.

The Legislator sought the Supreme Court’s intervention to declare unconstitutional the President’s authority to appoint ministers and deputy ministers without parliamentary approval.
